You'll see a few ads for 5 seconds each. Your webcam estimates where you look, then you answer quick Yes/No questions with two keys. It takes about 5 minutes.
What is recorded: estimated gaze positions on each ad, your Yes/No answers and how fast you gave them. No video or images of you are stored or sent anywhere. The camera feed is processed only inside this browser tab.
Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored on any server. Your results stay in this browser tab until the end, when you download them as one file to your own device. It contains gaze positions, answers and reaction times: no name, email or IP address, just a random ID.
You decide whether to send that file to the person running the study. Closing this tab before downloading discards everything.
Sit about an arm's length away, in even light, and keep your head fairly still. Your face should be centred below.
Starting the camera…
Dots will appear one at a time. Look straight at each dot and click it. Keep your eyes on it until it moves. Then, without clicking, just watch a few more dots so we can check accuracy.
After each ad, words appear one at a time, like "Engaging?". Press J for Yes and F for No, as fast as you can; your first reaction is what counts. Keep your fingers on both keys.
Now some ads will appear again, mixed with ones you haven't seen. For each: J = I saw this, F = new to me.
Your results contain gaze positions, answers and reaction times only. Nothing has been sent yet.
